Vodafone Australia takes Call Center jobs back from India
The new trend is to move the jobs that had been outsourced to India and China back to the country of origin. It is happening in the US. And this is another reminder that this is also happening in Australia.
Vodafone Australia is doubling the size of its Tasmanian call centre, as 750 new jobs are being created in Australia. The Australian Government is going to help with the bringing of jobs back home. The Federal Government will spend $4m for recruitment, training and the accommodation of new staff; while Tasmanian Government will chip in with $850,000 for infrastructure costs payroll tax concessions for new employees.
This will mean the end of the Call Center operations in India for the Vodafone Australian team. Only some back office work is going to be left back here.
