Video of the famous race of Milkha Singh, the Flying Sikh from Rome Olympics

This is the rare video of the race that Milkha Singh is remembered for.  Although he came 4th, but he set fire to the imaginations of many Indians and instilled pride on the field of athletics. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the director of “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” says it very well.

“Milkha Singh was the first international icon after Mahatma Gandhi who gave India a glimmer of hope at a time when there was helplessness all around even though the country had achieved Independence. The nation was in the grip of turmoil but Milkha Singh gave the countrymen something to cheer about. He had a difficult childhood after he miraculously crossed into India during Partition.”
