Tina Turner Sings Sanskrit Peace Mantra
Tina Turner, the famous rock singer, has sung a Sanskrit peace shloka for the new Album “Children Beyond”. The Mantra is:
AUM SARVESHAM SVASTIR BHAVATU
SARVESHAM SHANTIR BHAVATU
SARVESHAM PURNAM BHAVATU
SARVESHAM MANGALAM BHAVATU
It can be translated into:
Aum, may auspiciousness be unto all
may peace be unto all
may fulness be unto all
may prosperity/good be unto all
Now, when any Mantra looks at your “completeness”, it does not aim to give anything of wealth or emotions from within this world. The completeness is for the human to reach his ultimate for fullness. And in that fullness/completeness is the complete “Mangalam” – or “Good” – of it.
Any Mantra for peace should be recited with some sense of being grounded and serenity. Unfortunately, Tina Turner really exerts herself, specially in the word “Purnam”. It is not a rock song.. it is a peace mantra, and there is a certain way to recite it. But it seems she really puts in a lot of effort. Consequently, it comes off with a certain state of tension. Anyways, listen to the performance.
