Padded Bras, Perky Breasts and Islam: Government of Pakistan body protests against padded bras!
Zakir Naik – the very popular Islamic authority and speaker from India – has a great business idea for Pakistan. He wants the Government of Pakistan to fund research for Shariah-Compliant Bras. If, he thinks, research could be done and such lingerie created that can make a woman’s breast unnoticeable, then that would be in compliance with Islamic Shariah law.
I have always maintained that such theology and laws could only have been dreamt up by a pervert. Zakir Naik and his friends who had come together in conference of Islamic scholars on “Future of Padded Bras” have not disappointed me!
“Only devil women show off private parts. Muslim women should be as humble about them as they can. In fact they should be ashamed of their breasts, both of them.”
Thus spake one of the protestors last month who had gathered outside an outlet inside Park Towers and had taken up the entire floor and chanted slogans against padded bras. Another protestor was angry at the padded bras because “they make the breasts look bigger and perky”.
The protests were being done by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and other religious parties against the increasing import and eventual use of padded and colorful bras
The meeting was convened by The Council of Islamic Ideology on February 27. What is this body? It is a body created by the Government of Pakistan:
The CII is a constitutional body that advises the legislature whether or not a certain law is repugnant to Islam, namely to the Qur’an and Sunna.
The body had also invited shop owners and asked them specifically to bring the padded and colorful bras so the members could see for themselves what the hue and cry was all about. Now, CII also has women members, so it was probably an act of remarkable conscience that they didn’t ask them to demonstrate the actual worn padded bras to see if their breasts were indeed “bigger and perky” than normal or not?!
The final recommendation of the council?
“Padded bras are Devil’s cushions and he likes to rest of them. The Council of Islamic Ideology is recommending that Pakistani Muslim researchers should try to invent a bra that makes the female chest area unnoticeable.”
When a woman and her life giving abilities to a man become a problem – a religiously dictated eye sore – then something has fundamentally gone wrong with the minidset. And this group in Pakistan is not alone. Two years back a hardline Islamic group in Somalia al Shabaab had publicly whipped women for wearing bras as they violate Shariah because they constitute deception! The actions of this Islamic group could be at best only utmost perversion:
Residents said gunmen had been rounding up any woman seen with a firm bust and then had them publicly whipped by masked men. The women were then told to remove their bras and shake their breasts.
