Obama makes an off-color joke on Michelle
The American President race is heating up and so is the fund raising as well as focus on every line that the two candidates – President Obama and Mitt Romney – utter in public.
Well, Obama this week said something that seemed off color and double entendre, which some people – specially women – aren’t taking.. well… lying down. The occasion was Beverly Hills fundraiser for the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Leadership Council on Wednesday.
Talking to some 600 supporters at the event, the 50-year-old politician referred to Ellen DeGeneres, the stand-up comedian, television host and a lesbian.
“I want to thank my wonderful friend who accepts a little bit of teasing about Michelle beating her in push-ups but I think she claims Michelle didn’t go all the way down,” the Daily Mail quoted him as saying
The President let the last few words “hang in there” for maximum impact as the crowd burst in to laughter.
When questioned – was it that Obama deliberated wanted to make a double meaning joke or he was merely teasing Ellen DeGeneres and somehow hit upon that line without having fully grasped its implications as he spoke.
In the pressure that these candidates are in, there will be slips here and there and that is what makes them human. It is strange that so many Americans laugh their top off on these jokes over a beer or from their favorite stand up comedian, but when it comes to their President, they way him to come from another planet altogether.
