Is World Investors’ Honeymoon with “surging India” over?
Interesting discussion between Ashish Chauhan, MD and CEO at BSE Ltd, and Ashish J Singh, chairman of Bain & Company India at the World Economic Forum
Ashish Singh discusses the relationship that India has with foreign investors. Singh acknowledges that foreign investors are “confused about India today.” According to Singh, while India offers transparency, the lack of institutional strength that exists has restricted India’s potential. Singh believes that while India is ranked fourth as a foreign investment destination, its potential “had [it] done things right” is second. He also states how there is an expectation for corporate growth in India that, if not satisfied, will result in foreign investment capital leaving the Indian market quickly.
