Gujarat Riots 2002: Teesta Setalvad gets Bail in Criminal Case filed by her aide – the hitman in Best Bakery case!
There is a huge hue and cry over Gujarat riots of 2002. Entire careers have been made out of demonizing Modi and Gujarat amd even Gujaratis for what happened in Gujarat to the Muslims. No one even turns around to look to see if what was presented as “facts” were indeed true or just a farce?
As discussed earlier, Teesta Setalvad – the champion of publicly indicting Modi – had earlier used Rais Khan to threaten Zaheera Shaikh of the Best Bakery case. And later blackmailed and also broke into Khan’s emails. (Machiavellian Activism in Gujarat riots that jeopardized harmony and national security) He filed a criminal complaint againt Setalvad.
Today, Teesta got anticipatory bail in a criminal case filed against her by Khan. Setalvad had filed an anticipatory bail application in a local court here. As per the criminal case filed by Khan, Teesta Setalvad had fabricated the evidence for the Gujarat riots in 2002.
While Khan has been claiming that he had fabricated affidavits of 2002 riot victims on behest of Teesta, SH Vohra, the judge hearing Naroda Gam case had ordered that an FIR be lodged against Khan “and his associates”, for allegedly manipulating some affidavits filed before the court.
Not only has she fabricated the evidence in Gujarat, she has also been charged with unauthorized exhumation of graves on Pandarwada in Central Gujarat!
Interestingly, on Friday the Supreme Court had stayed all proceedings against Setalvad in this case.
A few questions come to the mind:
Why is Supreme Court shielding her?
If she fabricated the Gujarat riot evidence – which is a major charge – and nulls the criticism that has been directed towards Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, then why isn’t it an important discussion in the media? If a statement of a cheat like Sanjiv Bhatt – who made unsubstantiated charges against Modi – became such a major national debate, how come something as damning as Criminal case against Teesta by her former aide Rais Khan – who in turn threatened Zaheera Shaikh the star witness in Best Bakery case, who changed her statement too, opposing Teesta’s version. So, not only did Zaheera go against her, but the guy who threatened her also slapped a Criminal Case on her.
Are we as witnesses of this drama prejudiced without any evidence?
To totally understand the villainy of Teesta Setalvad, one needs to read what Rais Khan had to say about his issues with Teesta:
In his complaint to the police commissioner of Ahmedabad under Sections 65, 66 and 72 of the Information Technology Act, 2000, Khan on Thursday said he worked for six years as coordinator of Teesta’s Mumbai-based NGO, Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP), and was sacked in January 2008 after he refused to carry out certain orders “which were not in the interest of communal harmony”.
So, the hitman of Teesta Setalvad – the so-called champion of Gujarat riots victims – says that her orders for him were against the interest of communal harmony! Even his conscience pinched him, but the lady’s conscience has been unaltered!
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. ~ C. S. Lewis
