CBI sends Letters Rogatory to 5 countries for Chidambaram case money trail
The probe against P. Chidambaram and his son, Karti has become more intense. It has taken a global scale now. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of India has sent Letters Rogatory to five countries. A Letter rogatory is a formal request from a court to a foreign court for judicial assistance. These are customary method of obtaining assistance from abroad in the absence of a treaty or executive agreement.
The five countries that have been sent the LRs are Britain, Switzerland, Bermuda, Mauritius, and Singapore.
CBI wants to get details on the money trail. As per the India TV report, Britain, Singapore and Switzerland have already started sending the information. Bermuda and Mauritius will send soon.
