Bhajji in another trouble – this time he is hurting clerics
Can some one please give the Akal Takht some work to do? They once in a while when a Sikh goes out to do something for fun and is a celebrity, try to make it an occasion for gaining fame of their own! Harbhajan Singh is participating in this dancing reality show, and is dancing with Mona Singh. Ostensibly, in one of the episodes, he comes dressed as Ravana and has Tilak on his forehead. Akal Takht jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh found that despicable to the “Sikh Values”! And what was it that hurt him and his values?
‘To wear a tilak (vermilion) on the forehead and to dress up like Ravana and dance with a woman publicly is highly disgusting. The act was shown on several TV channels and the Sikh community can never tolerate such behaviour,”
If that was not enough, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president Paramjit Singh Saran starts his own thing – ”A Sikh personifying Ravana or Rama is not acceptable (to the community).” Hmmm.. if Ram is so objectionable to “Sikh values” – then maybe it is time to strike out half of Guru Granth Sahib’s verses as well!
Somewhere there has to be some common sense and these jokers are just going overboard! To dissociate Sikhism from Ram is to also dissociate it from Guru Nanak himself! How can you be ashamed of an icon and eulogize his greatest fan of his lifetime! This is the problem with most religions – religion does not provide sense but adds egos. The best way to learn from a giant like Guru Nanak (and have the right – yes, RIGHT – to call him one’s “Guru”) is to meditate/ruminate/analyze and think about his most profound thoughts! If one could understand (and REALIZE) EVEN 1% of his Mool Mantra (and it doesn’t matter if he hadn’t said a word after that!) – then one would reach the highest point of spiritual awakening!!
